Refer a Friend: Referral Rewards and What to Consider First
A referral programme rewards a player for bringing a new player to an operator. Your friend signs up through your link or code and, once they meet the conditions — a first deposit, for example — you receive a reward, sometimes both of you. This page explains how such programmes work and what to weigh up. We don't describe any operator's specific programme.
How referral works
- You find a personal link or code in your profile.
- Your friend registers through it and verifies their account.
- They meet the programme's condition, typically a first deposit or a turnover.
- The reward is credited — often as a bonus or free bet with wagering.
Conditions to know
| Condition | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| The new player must not already have an account | operators allow one account per person |
| Friend's deposit or turnover | the reward depends on your friend playing |
| Reward form | a bonus with wagering is worth less than cash |
| Referral cap | programmes limit the number of rewards |
| Same household or payment method | can lead to the reward being refused |
The ethical side
Recommending gambling is not like recommending a restaurant. You get the reward when your acquaintance deposits and plays — and you never know how gambling will affect them. Before inviting someone, consider whether they handle betting well and whether you would feel uncomfortable if things went badly for them. Never make the invitation conditional on them placing a bet.
Your friend's personal data
If a programme asks you to enter a friend's email or phone number, that is a third party's personal data. Enter it only with their consent. It is safer to send them the link and leave the registration to them. How we handle data is on the privacy page.
What the reward is worth
If the reward is a €20 bonus with 5x wagering at 1.50+, turnover is €100 and the expected loss at a 5% margin is €5 — a theoretical value of €15. If it is paid in real money, it is worth its full amount. Either way you get it only when your acquaintance meets the conditions; if they don't play, you get nothing.
When to skip it
If you would be persuading someone only for the reward, skip the programme. If anyone around you has self-excluded or struggles with gambling, never refer them. Other bonus types are in Bonuses.
The actual offer and its terms are set by the operator the button leads to — it is chosen by the affiliate network and may not be Tipsport. What counts is what the operator's terms say at the moment you accept a bonus.
