Betting App Download: Android, iPhone, APK Files and Desktop
Most bettors now bet from a phone — during a match, on the bus, from the sofa. An app is convenient, but it is also where people get caught out: fake apps and doctored APK files are a common way to steal login details. On this page you won't find a file to download or any claim about which app a particular operator offers. We explain how to find the genuine app yourself and when the mobile site is the better choice.
App or mobile browser
| Option | Benefits | What to watch |
|---|---|---|
| App from an official store | quick access, notifications, biometric login | install only from a developer that matches the operator |
| Mobile site in the browser | nothing to install, always up to date | check the domain in the address bar |
| APK file outside the store | available where the store doesn't list the app | highest risk of tampering |
For most bettors the mobile site is entirely sufficient. An app brings convenience and notifications — and with them a stronger pull to bet more often.
Android and APK files
On Android the safest install is from Google Play. If an operator offers an APK file for direct download, get it only from its own domain, checked in the regulator's register — never from a link in a message, a forum or an advert. Installing an APK means allowing installs from unknown sources; switch that permission off again afterwards. If the app asks for access to your messages, contacts or device administration without a clear reason, cancel the install.
iPhone and iPad
On Apple devices apps are installed through the App Store. When searching, check the developer name — it should match the operator, not an unknown company with a similar logo. Look at the update date and ratings too. If the app isn't in the App Store, use the mobile site in Safari; don't install profiles or certificates for “out-of-store installation”.
Desktop on Windows or Mac
On a computer a browser is enough. Some operators offer a desktop app for Windows, but the browser site has the same functions. A bigger screen makes it easier to compare odds and read the rules — an advantage in betting. If you install software, do it only from the operator's verified domain.
Notifications and in-play betting
Apps send notifications about goals, results and promotions. For in-play betting they are useful, but they also pull you back into play. Keep notifications about your own bets on and switch off marketing messages. Your phone's settings also let you set a time limit for the app.
How to spot a fake app
- A different developer or a name with a small typo.
- A download link from an unknown domain or a message.
- Requests for login details outside the normal form, or for a text-message code “to verify”.
- An “app-only” bonus with no terms.
How to check an operator's domain is explained on the review page. Mobile registration is covered on the Register page.
